Construction Scope

We are excited to announce Aberdeen Proving Ground’s project scope for 2011.

It is important to us that you know what is happening with the program and all of the exciting things we are doing to continue to make Aberdeen Proving Ground a great place to live.

This year, we will continue deferred maintenance renovations on 124 homes in Patriot and Bayside. In addition, nine historic homes in Plumb Point and Edgewood will receive renovations as they become available. We will continue construction on the 210 new homes in Bayside with the first set of homes slated to be completed at the end of 2011 and delivered in January 2012.

We have identified that the roofs of 16 homes on Everette Road should be replaced as they are declining in age and have required a significant amount of maintenance. The roofs are approximately 30 years old and do not have the same characteristics of newer shingles. Though these roof replacements were originally slated to be completed at a later date, in order to continue to provide excellent service to our residents, we will begin replacing the roofs on the Everette Road homes in February 2012.

We have also identified several fences in the Bayside neighborhood that need to be replaced as they are in a state of disrepair. This year, we are happy to announce that we will be able to replace and add some additional fencing for homes in the Bayside neighborhood. We will install new, black chain-link fences for the identified homes, which are also slated to be combined as part of future renovations.

The heating, ventilating and air-conditioning system (HVAC) conversion is scheduled to continue in 2011. Twenty-six historic homes will be converted from the oil burning furnace to a heat pump system. This equipment replacement is primarily to install a more maintenance-free HVAC system. The oil burners in the homes are inefficient and parts are very difficult to find. Heat pumps will also operate cleaner.
